I am not sure if u were using a SLR or DSLR camera. Looks like your aperture settings can improve. If using a DSLR in manual mode, u need to set the ISO, White Balance, if not, the pic will appear overexposed, too much sunlight.Using flash in daylight is not recomended.
Quickie 1
1. Check the blue sky exposure.
2. Check the exposure of the tree.
3. Get the average.
Quickie 2
1. Move you camera spot meter circle between the blue sky and the tree.
2. Lock the exposure. refocus, and shoot.
Honestly, you should use matrix metering. Nikon matrix metering algorithm so smart that make me think twice about using spot metering.
Need flash to fill without blowing the sky. So you’re shooting in manual mode?
