[2311] Of Ares Borghese

This is Ares, the God of War, as he stands in a gallery in the Louvre. The Roman sculpture is about 2,000 years ago, which is a copy of an older Greek bronze statue lost to antiquity.

A little research reveals that it is called Ares Borghese because the Borghese family of Rome collected this sculpture and owned it until the Louvre bought it in 1807.

I am no expert in Roman sculpture. The sculpture simply amused me in a very childish way.

[2310] Of a street view of Paris

This is the Avenue de l’Opéra in Paris. I was so excited about photographing this street that I was late for two appointments with two friends in Paris.

I still regret about being late.

[2309] Of Notre Dame

A lot of pain went in to produce this photograph. It was cold in more than one way that night.

[2306] Of Moulin Rouge

It has been hard to shoot some good photos so far. The sky was not cooperative yesterday. The forecast hazards that the sky will continue to be gloomy today, with some snow.

The biggest thing that prevented me from shooting probably is that I joined some free tours around Paris. With any free tour, the groups I was in did not spend too much time at any one particular place as I would want to.

That was not bad at all really. These quick tours were good introduction to the city and a great place to meet new faces, apart from the hostel. And since I will be spending weeks here, the introduction tours gave me an idea where I want to shoot later on.

Nevertheless, I do have something to share.

And my camera ran out of battery shortly after that. The area was way too hot for the camera.
