[1487] Of a monument at the Tugu Negara complex

One of those lesser known monuments outside the gated compound of the Tugu Negara complex:

Besides the statue, the Pavilion and the Cenotaph, there are a couple of monuments with ASEAN-based theme. This is one of two monuments which I like best. The sad thing however is that, the monuments are breaking apart. Though it may not be visible here, a visitor could observe big cracks on those monuments without much effort.

[1483] Of names of the dead

I found myself at the Tugu Negara yesterday.

The names are on the monolith, the Cenotaph, close to the main entrance of the Tugu Negara complex. Other photos shot within the complex posted on this blog are the Tugu Negara itself and the Pavilion that acts as an elaborate gate to the statue.

[1478] Of possibly the most popular royalty among Malaysian liberals

Raja Nazrin at AUAM dinner last Sunday:

I got lucky when he looked straight at me, or really, toward my direction in general and smiled when I took the shot.

Anyway, I really need to practice photography under weak lighting. It has been frustrating having grainy pictures, especially it is not everyday one gets a shot like this.

The reason I attended the dinner was to listen his speech. I was deeply disappointed when he was merely a guest of honor. The keynote speech was given by the new US ambassador to the Malaysia, James Keith. Despite being an ambassador, his speech was drowned by an unbelievably chatty crowd.

[1443] Of Bersih on the front page of Wikipedia

See it for yourself:

Fair use. Screenshot of Wikipedia on November 12 2007.

Not only that, see that photo?

That is mine. The full picture was first published on Saturday, November 10 2007. This is the original picture:

That however is not the photo in full size. Maybe I should license the full size picture, which is of higher quality, appropiately for the use of Wikipedia.

The rally now has its own page at Wikipedia. In 24 hours, it has grown from a stub article to one of respectable length, though it suffers from pronounced bias.
