{"id":1427,"date":"2007-10-25T13:34:47","date_gmt":"2007-10-25T05:34:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/maddruid.com\/?p=1427"},"modified":"2009-04-12T14:03:09","modified_gmt":"2009-04-12T06:03:09","slug":"1422-of-20-years-of-kuala-selangor-nature-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maddruid.com\/?p=1427","title":{"rendered":"[1422] Of 20 years of Kuala Selangor Nature Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Malaysian Nature Society together with its partners will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Kuala Selangor Nature Park this Saturday and Sunday; October 27 and 28 respectively.<\/p>\n<p>The MNS has managed the Park on behalf of the Selangor state government since the Park was first established in 1987. I am not quite sure what was the direct impetus for the creation of the Park but initial reading suggests an opposition to turn the area into a golf course. The Park \u2014 partly an area of secondary forest and partly mangrove swamp \u2014 is a breeding ground for several endangered species.<\/p>\n<p>I myself have yet to visit the place and I thought by volunteering with the program through MNS, this could be a great opportunity to explore the place and have fun with my camera.
