Would a kid cry watching Bay’s adaptation? I know I cried as a child watching Optimus Prime died.

The 1986 movie was definitely the better one for me. I’m a huge Transfan. The 1986 movie had more emphasis on the Transformers compared to Bay’s version. Although Bay’s version was suprisingly not shit. It got a lot of positive reviews from critics for its humour and cool updated depiction of the Transformers.
The 1986 version was poorly marketed and flopped in theaters then, but have become a cult classic since then. I loved the animation, great quotable dialogue and awesome soundtrack in it. And I never thought that the plotline was weak in the 86 version.

I like the plot of “The movie” removing Optimus from the leader role. It is a hint of growth up plot. But many people blame the flop on the plot (IMHO, it is because of poor marketing and promotion).
